FIFA19 on Intel HD Graphics

EA’s FIFA offering is the most anticipaated football game of the year, with virtually no competiton since the inevitable down-fall of Konami’s PES, gamers have remained ever so ready to see what EA has added to this great line up, with the continuation of the fan favourite “The Journery” featuring Alex Hunter in the British premier League. EA has leveraged its’s FIFA license to great lengths by including over 700 clubs and 17,000 player recreation. EA made also new aditions to the gameplay by including Timed finshers, dynamic tactis, and active touch giving the game a more realistic experience.

So now unto the question at hand, can the Intel HD 520 and 620 handle FIFA 19 at a respectable framerate? well, the question to that is mostly a “YES” as long as long as low settings are utilized and you keep your expectation in check.

Configuration/settings to use on fifa19

To achieve a playable framerate on valorant, with either the Intel HD 520 or 620, you will first have to ensure you meet the minimum requirement(Gotten from the official EA page):

  • Operating System: Windows 7/8.1/10 – 64-Bit
  • CPU: Core i3-2100 @ 3.1GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.4 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Hard Drive Space Required: 50.0 GB
  • DirectX: 11 (Installed)
Most importantly, you have to ensure that your PC is running in dual channel, that means you have to be operating two stick of RAM, as playing any game with just a single stick of RAM on any integrated graphics can negatively affect performance, upto to a 50% loss in a worst case senario.

Secondly, to achieve any decent framerate, lower settings will have to be utilized. The following settings were used:

  • Rendering Quality: Low
  • MSAAOptions: Off
  • Resolution: 720p/1080p
  • DirectX: 11

fifa performance on Intel Hd 520

FIFA 19 can achieve a locked 30 FPS on low settings, the game can go as far as the mid 40 FPS region.

FIFA 19 on Intel HD performance

On low settings FIFA19 is more than playable on the Intel HD 520, however, there are some hiccups, like during the match load up, the game will stutter as data is being streamed in, along with the close render of the individual players and pit, that goes for close up of any player even during highlights, that’s why the third person camera view is practically unusable, as that would simply send the game down to the mid 20 FPS.  The game is well optimized, despite what might be said about EA,

Alternatively, a low settings can be used along with a 1080p resolution to achieve a 30 FPS lock, or 720p with render quality set to medium. As, 720p with on lowest settings still leaves some performance on the table, given that this is a sport game, a consistent framerate is more ideal, it’s better to have a locked 30FPS than a 32 – 40 FPS, as  frame rate spike could easily disorient a gamer at a crucial point.

Conclusion -

You can definitely play FIFA 19 on the Intel HD 520, a decent gaming experience with atleast 30+ can be had at both 720p and 1080p on virtually any mode. Ensuring that the PC has meet the minimum requirement, the Intel HD 520 can handle this game this game with very little hiccup.
